THANKS TO YOU...

Did you know that LatPro recently tied for #1 in overall customer satisfaction among ALL job boards? (2001 Electronic Recruiting Index).

We're obviously very around of this and want to thank all of you for your continuing support. Just proves you don't have to be a monster to be effective!

We're also pleased with the dynamic rise in traffic on our site. In January, LatPro had over 210,000 unique visitors and 15,000 new resumes. And by the looks of things, we're only going to get a lot busier around here...

A recent study shows that in the US, Hispanics are more likely to be online at home than Caucasians and African-Americans, and over the next five years their Internet penetration rates will grow several times faster than the rest of the population. And a separate study predicts nearly 10 million Internet users in Brazil by the end of this year.

As always, we love to hear from you. If you have suggestions on future topics, just drop us a line.

--Eric Shannon CEO, LatPro.com

DIVERSITY HIGHLIGHTS

Recent statistics indicate that the Latino middle-class grew by 80 percent over the past 20 years. This growth rate was three times higher than among whites.

It is probably no wonder that Spanish-language media continues to explode in the US:

Spanish language commercials are starting to appear on English-language television and radio

According to a media ratings organization, "Spanish" has catapulted to the second most popular Internet radio format--just behind talk radio.

Meanwhile, Univision is now the No. 5 network in the United States, behind ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. Rival network Telemundo Communications Group is also strengthening its foothold in the Spanish-language TV industry.

LATIN AMERICA BUSINESS NEWS

The Latin American Stock Index is off to its best start in years. But analysts predict very slow investment into Latin America's Internet industry for 2001

Business Bytes:

Verizon plans direct links to Latin American subsidiaries; Telecom Italia Acquires 2 of 3 Mobile Concessions Sold in Brazil; Worldcom's Embratel hit hard by uncollectables; Citibank Launches on-Line Business Services in Mexico.

THE LEGAL FRONT

The US Department of Labor has created new rules for "H1-B Dependent Companies"--defined as companies with over 15% of its workforce as foreign nationals with work visas.

RECRUITING TOOLS & USEFUL LINKS

Recruiting in the Internet industry might get tough as top-caliber candidates are now searching out more traditional companies and more traditional roles.

Have a candidate who wants to negotiate on salary? Here are some tips on how to manage the situation.
